A nice Rocky Mt Recurve...sort of
« on: December 01, 2011, 02:42:00 PM »
Here is a bow by Jess Stewart of Sierra Blanca Bows. It is based on the Rocy Mountain Recurve design. I sent Jess tracings of my 50" and 52" bows. I had Jess make me one based on the 50" bow. Bow has different woods than what the original RMR's used and clear glass w/ fancy lams.
I had two sets of limbs made,51lbs and 42lbs. Bow is curly maple w/ zebra wood accents/ Limbs are tamo ash(51lbs) and zebra wood(42lbs).Sheep horn tips and grip overlays.

I love the Rocky Mountain Recurves and I still have my original 1993 Personal with 48" and 50" limbs.
This as a fantastic look, great wood combo and overlays, the sheep horn is a must for me.
Keep us posted how it shoots and maybe some comparison with the original.

Thanks guys. The bow is very well done. Shoots real good too.It was easy to quiet. It is cut past center so I need a stiffer spine than the original. But boy does it shoot!
