Please buckle your child (Tragedy)
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:30:00 AM »
Last saturday a very good friend of mine that i have been hunting with for 12 years took his son for a ride on a ATV with the top on it.

They were going down a steep hill into a area we call the pit which has sand and gravel.

My friend got to the bottom and was getting ready to turn left which we have done many times when the ATV hit a large rock and stopped abruptly.

His 8 year old son was slammed into the dash head first and was killed in a matter of seconds, a tragedy that could have been avoided if he had his belt on.

My friend held his dying son after calling 911 and the cabin to get help. The only people at the cabin was his wife and his wife and 4 yr old girl.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and my friend and his family are devastated and so are his friends.

We take so many things for granted and we never know when tragedy will strike. Pray for my friend
and family and guys be careful when out in the field.

All our prayers to your friend and his family.
Bowhunting is a passion, not an obsession. Its just hard for my wife to tell the difference sometimes.

I can't imagine the pain that he is feeling right now.  All he wanted to do is share his love of the outdoors with his young son, and it was all taken away from him in an instant.  I pray that this family is able to find peace and comfort during this tragic time.
