BAMA BOWS Reflex Deflex or Hill style
« on: December 20, 2011, 04:17:00 PM »
Just ordered the Royal Elite Reflex Deflex 62in to go with my 30in draw. It will have all Osage limbs with dark curly maple riser and the dark horn antler tips with a beaver tail grip.

Its a 62in reflex deflex to go with my 30 in draw but he said he could build me a Hill style bow that would be 64in but a shorter riser.

What do you guys that are shooting Bama bows think about the Hill style and the refex bows.

Would love some input from you guys.

Get both.    :bigsmyl:

But seriously, I own one of his D-bows and it's fantastic.  It's taken me a little bit to get used to the hill style grip, but it's a sweet shooter.  I draw 28" and don't have any issues.  I've no experience with Nate's Expedition, but a lot of guys here have.  Nate has put a lot of time and effort into his designs and if he says he can build you a hybrid bow that will work with your draw length I would trust him.

I would get the R&D bow first, then think about the Hill style, but that is me.

I've found D bows to be smoother at longer draws in general, especially if you go with a 66 inch or higher.

He told me he could make me a 64in D bow for my 30in draw, he would just shorten the handle. I didn't really like that plus he said the reflex bow out performs his D bow and is a lot smoother.

My 62in Osage Expi 46@28 is one of the smoothest bows I have ever shot, I have never been a R/D fan till I got this bow!Nate has really worked on the design of the Expedition and I think he now has design dead on! I do have a Bama Hunter and a Bama Royal 66in 50@28 I shoot all three about equal as far a accuracy goes,  the Expi is a little faster but makes a lttle more noise than the 66in models they are whisper quiet with no string silencers! I have been using my expi mainly for hunting this fall because the  62inch length but I like all three bows equally well! My next one is going to be a straight-limb 64in  Royal about 46lb (really like that weight) with no locator on the grip, made of mainly Yew/Bamboo!

Stephen! He was almost to settle on the d/r til your post!!

Now ya done went and stirred him up again!!

Seriously, a 64" d/r would be perfect (for me), any way you can get one in hand to try out?
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I've got a 64" Royal Expi and the straight limbed Royal as well.

The straight-limbed Royal is MY bow. Period. It is the one I shoot every day and I'm going to buy another with no locater grip. Just a straight handled stick. Nate has really mastered this time-tested design. The most forgiving bow I've ever shot. Even with a variety of different spines  and arrow types (within reason).

Ripforce and I can take a quiver full of a mixed-bag of arrows: aluminum, carbon, wood, different point weights, different diameters, etc. and shoot relatively close groups. We do it all the time for fun. I can't do that with any other bow.

Isn't the longest length you can get in a Royal Expedition 62 inches.

I have both styles of Nate's bows and love them both. Both are smooth, fast, and accurate.

The main difference between them is very basic. The Expedition (R/D) is a bit faster due to the design. The D-Bows are more forgiving and quiet. Decide which is more important to you and go with it. Either way, it won't likely be your last BamaBow.

Nick, I also noticed how tolerant Nate's D-Bows are of spine and arrow weight. I can shoot my Thunder Storm 3050's with a 200 or 250 grain head and they hit the same, and not all that different in speed either. I couldn't believe it at first, but it's just another bonus to Nate's bows.
