Long Distance shot on a colorado grouse
« on: December 21, 2011, 10:13:00 PM »
I had hunger behind me on this shot, I was truly meat hunting. We had ran really low on supplies and were completely out of protien.  I had lost or broke all my blunt arrows, all i had were  hunting arrows with broadheads. I wanted that grouse so bad i took off my broadhead so i wouldnt loose it and let an arrow fly bare shafted. Notice the arrow flight, it was fishtailing and porpoising all over the place. Im not even going to mention the distance. Im just going to say it was way way longer than i need to be shooting, im am blaming it on hunger

That was a pretty sick shot.  I'll bet that was the best tasting grouse you ever ate.  Nice job, Jeremy.

It tasted better than i can put into words. I take about 3' of wire with me every time i hunt for binding meat to a stick, and i take a gallon ziplock bag with some dry marinade inside. Kill a bird put it in the bag, add a little water, wait an hour while the fire is being made, bind your bird, and fire it up. Im a cook on the mountain. down here, not so much

Good work. I should have taken my broadhead off the arrow I lost shooting at a grouse too...would have saved a few bucks. Probably same result though.

I second to ziploc with spices for a bird, we do that up in the hills as well. Nothing like bbq grouse.
Show me your ways, LORD,teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me,for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
