Leather?

Great site! Very glad I found it. What type of leather do you guys use for making your own tabs? I was going to order some but never realized there were so many options (Chap Leather, Deerskin, elkskin, Eco-Friendly Leather,Embossed Leather, etc). Thanks

The best leather in my opinion is cordovan leather for tabs. But does cost a bit, usally cheaper to buy a cordovan tab already made. You can get a Bateman cordovan tab for around $12 to $14.I've been shooting the same Bateman tab for 4+ years. But it can be made from other leather but cordovan is my favorite.

I go to a local leather store (makes belts, etc.) . The often have left over vegetable tanned leather. I buy remnants and can make over a dozen tabs for a couple of bucks.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

PaRecurver, send me your address and I'll send you enough cordavan to make a tab or two. It is absolutely the best to use.
