New Hampshire Hare Hunters
« on: December 28, 2011, 01:17:00 PM »
I don't normally do this, but I am going to be in Berlin next month for my son's basketball game.  I live in the Seacoast, and I figure if I have to drive that far I might as well make a day of it and try to hunt some hare's for the day. (The game is at night)  I'll be hunting without dogs and with a longbow......anyone have any suggestions that might help me out for the day? I am willing to go a little north of Errol, not sure how much farther up I want to go though.....

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
David

David, Try the Milan/Dummer area.As you head towards Errol on the left there are alot of clear cuts.Don't forget to stop at L.L Cotes.

That's what I was thinking Leon. Also thinking that along the flats on 26 west of Errol before you get to the Notch might be good too.

Thanks,

I think the miles pond rd is up there west of errol. if you can get a truck out there, there is a lot of good rabbit cover on both sides of the road. lots of logging has been done up there in recent years and the new growth is popping up. Just look for the spot where there is a parking area for snowmobile and atv trailers. It will be on your left heading west on 26. Spent a lot of time out there with beagles and had good luck.

I own a camp on Big Diamond Pond which is about 15 to 20 miles northwest of errol. If you go far enough west on 26 you will see diamond pond rd on your right. The sportsman's lodge and coleman state park are out there. Lots of cover on that rd too.

Thanks Tim, I will look at both places. I know where Big Diamond Pond is, I will check out Miles Pond Road.

Thanks again,

Those places all sound familiar, from my 2003 moose hunt near Errol, when I first met David.  Please take some photos and share your hunt with us, David!  Good hunting.

It is Jeff, I plan on taking photos, hopefully to include a rabbit or two......maybe even a moose if I'm lucky.

Leon I've thought about maybe trying to make that shoot, it's been a couple of years since I have made one.

Don't worry Charlie, these rabbits don't live in briar patches the size of houses......  :nono:

How many guys here live close to Hopkinton or Concord?

I have just converted a guy and his 12 Year old son was already hooked. He will need some instruction and mentoring.

Sorry david, didnt mean to steal your thread.

Good luck with the bunnies. Are they snowshoes or cottontails?
