I have years of experience bowhunting pheas on NJ preserves. Just want to ask you guys who have hunted wild birds (you preserve hunters from other states can chime in with your experiences)Do roosters run more so then the hens? And also, are there preserves in all 50 states?  Thanks Bruce

My experience in MD and PA with wild birds was many moons ago when we had good populations of them. Yes, cockbirds do run more than hens. It seemed they started to develope a trait for running almost all the time unless caught in very heavy cover.

i have 50+ pheasant to credit(no wild birds i would starve).  we hunt them pretty hard here in central il. I hunt about 15-20 times per year. Havnt noticed preserve roosters running any more than hens.

not sure about the wild roosters running more, i have hunted them in n dakota with gun but not enough to form a real opinion.
