Sad news Tarheels...

I went out to check my hunting area today and late in the season Dec 31 thru Jan 2 I saw evidence of a late rut. Today I saw the scrape I found just before season end- Leaves clear, center of the scrape was sopping wet with urine, and piles of droppings everywhere. It was beneath a young Beech tree.
Too bad we gotta wait 'til Sept. :(

Same here in Georgia Bud. I found a couple of scrapes cleaned out the last day of our season as well. Luckily our local trad club starts 3d shoots tomorrow and I have already been out once scouting for 2012. September will be here before we know it.

I helped my club set up (yesterday) for our first 3d shoot of the year (today). My guesstimate is I saw about a dozen tree rubs while placing the targets. Some with evidence of recent activity.
Too bad NC doesn't give archers a second season, even if it were just two more weeks.

Things are setting up for a late one here as well as I saw a number of mature does over the last few days and no bucks in sight.
