selfbows as gifts.
« on: July 20, 2007, 07:04:00 AM »
Oh how hard it is to part with bows that you make with your own hands.  I just finished making 2 more bows for others, but my wife had to pry them from me kicking and screaming.
The top is my friend's recurve, not sure of the type.  The bottom 2 in the picture are the 2 bows I made for his daughter and wife.
The middle one is a 58" pyramid that is 2" wide at the fades.  33# at 28".  Purple Satin backed hickory with yellow poplar in the handle handle, ERC handle overlay, and ERC tip overlays.
The bottom one is a 66" red oak long bow that is 1" wide.  It is 26#@25".  It has western cedar in the handle and black walnut over hickory limb tips with a black walnut cross just above the handle.
Take a look.

Wow - no small wonder you hate to part with them. Pretty work, gwhunter

Beautiful!!......And I know the feeling.., each bow I build is kinda like my offspring, pour my heart and soul into each one, and would happily entrust one to a friend ,but never a stranger,so I guess I'll never be a famous bowyer, but just a friend that builds a good bow, and that's fine by me...Steve

Thanks for the kind words.  It is greatly appreciated.  Taking pictures of past bows helps ease the pain of not having them.  So does the knowledge that someone else can now enjoy such a great pastime.  Thanks again.
