Tapering 1/4" shafts for kids arrows
« on: January 15, 2012, 07:36:00 PM »
I have three nephews and have helped to introduce them and any other kids that I can to trad archery. In doing so you need arrows.

I'm particular to the 1/4" arrows for lighter weight bows #20 and below.

I searched for a 1/4" taper tool without success. So, I improvised and took some masking tape and wrapped the shaft about 1" from the end of the shaft and used a 5/16" taper tool. It takes about 9" of tape wrapped around the shaft to make it fit the taper tool snugly.

In case you wanted to make some 1/4" arrows but haven't due to not having a sander or 1/4" taper tool, now you can.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip
