SBD Strings: The Verdict is in!
« on: January 17, 2012, 12:16:00 PM »
I just bought a new Kmag that had a D97 endless loop string on it.  It sounded like a 22 mag when I was shooting it, and it wasn;t due to improper tuning.  I really like this bow because it was small and compact, shoots extremely hard, and easy for me to shoot at my 26 inch draw.  But, I was seriously never going to hunt with it because nothing would get it quiet.

So I decided to buy and try an SBD string out for it.  You hear about how they quieten a bow and make it perform.  The SBD string didn't even come close to all the hype.

It Was BETTER.  Absolutely took a bow that was so loud and made it whisper quiet.  And when I say Whisper, I mean just that.  I am a quiet bow freak and this Kmag is as quiet as any long bow I have.  It is also pumping the arrow down range faster than the D97 string, which is a real plus.  How much faster I do not know but when a quiet bow is noticably faster than a loud bow it has to be substantial for it to be obvious.

And for you guys who are unsure about the skinny string thing, it is much more comfortable to shoot than any of the other strings I have shot.  It doesn't roll and it just releases extremely crisp and cleanly.  These really are the bombdigity.  Give them a try, They are the best string going bar none.  I haven't tried them all but my days of looking are over, cause they just can't get any better.  You will love'em.

Forester~  That is awesome news, I hope I have the exact same results.  My bow isn't quite as loud as you described yours, but quieter is always better with bows.  I have ordered my first SBD string and am just waiting on delivery.....    Hopefully it gets here soon!

What is the material? Is it good for bows that aren't FF compatable?

As Longbow said, you need to check with them and use your own judgement on what will and will not work.  The string I ordered was fast flight 8 strand, with the loop ends padded with B50 Dacron.  Check out the ad in the classified's or type sbd strings into your search engine.  Best thing since sliced bread.   :)

Great strings, you can also get the directly from Braveheart Archery, they are in the Sponsors Forum.  Both great people to deal with.

Suberb strings for sure, it's the only string I've found that can tame a loud Widow. Tim at Braveheart will have a stock string in your mailbox in three day's. Super service and Pierre make a super string. Made from BCY D-10

Glad to hear you're so satisfied, I'm waiting for mine to arrive.  My bow is already quiet but it can never be too quiet!  Hopefully I'll be as happy as you.

Just got SBD's for both my Shrew and Brush Hawk. Both bows picked up speed, and are absolutly silent at the shot. Could not be more pleased.

Just ordered my first SBD from Tim at Braveheart last night for my Toelke Whip.  Very much looking forward to trying it out this weekend!
