Every day, or at least every week, I spent some time looking through all of the bows for sale by users here. 99% of the time I just look, admire, and move on. (I have a wife and 2 small children, so I have to buy carefully and slowly.) However, last week I saw Grinch selling a 3-Pice Take-down bow, and something about it just felt 'right'.
The maker of the bow is "Black Timber" bows, and the bow-yer is Craig Warren.
I immediately came to an agreement with Grinch, and the very next morning it was on it's way here. (That man is great to deal with, and shipped the bow FAST.)
I received the bow after work on Thursday and immediately took it out back. She shoots like a champ. It may be the reduced weight of the bow, increased length, better grip, or all three combined. Whichever way you cut it; I shoot this bow better and more consistently than I have ever shot my 1 piece longbow.
A little more research told me that Craig Warren is a small independent bow-yer from Maine. He only makes about 10-12 bows a year, and many are for his close friends.
I also figured out that he holds the following Maine State :
Moose (Bull-Archery) 1,040 Ibs., Craig Warren, New Gloucester, ME, 9/30/2009, Allagash.
And he killed this moose with one of his self-made longbows Trad style.
Having been stationed in Maine with the Navy for two years made this even cooler for me.
It's weird how things come together as coincidence so often: I was stationed in Maine, with the Navy. The guy I bought the bow from is a Navy Veteran, and the bow-yer is from Maine and holds a Maine state record.
I feel really lucky to have this bow. Thanks again Grinch.
