Water based poly on limbs

I recently refinished a recurve and, although I tried not to, splashed the the limbs with the water based poly I as using for the wood portion of the riser. So to make it look better I went ahead and coated the entire limbs. Does anyone know if I should expect the finish on the limbs to peel or crack later? I've got another bow to refinish and am wondering if I should concern myself with keeping the poly off of the limbs. Thanks

What type of poly? If it's the Helmsman Spar urathane you should'nt have a problem with it. I've done many bows with Helmsman and never had a problem over the last 4 years. I use it in the liquid (brush on) form over snake skins and the spray form over everything else.

Min Wax semi-gloss. I brush it on.

The water base polys (Minwax Polycrylic) are pretty good finishes and will hold up well.  Biggest issue for longevity will be your surface prep.
