« on: January 28, 2012, 07:30:00 PM »
Hey everybody new to the site.I've been lookin around for awhile and you all sure have a nice site here.I've been wanting a traditional bow for a few years and think I just sold my compound so no lookin back now.I'd like to make my own and was lookin at this kit.Anybody know anything about it?Or if anybody has a cheap longbow I'd be interested in hearing about it.Thanks

Be sure to make MOJAM in July, not too far from ya. It is at Marshall, lots of free selfbow knowledge there every year! They crank out a bunch of bows every year.

I'm 50 miles from IA on hwy 5

I think there are some guys who go just to help others carve a bow out of a stick, or stave to be proper...

You would do good asking this on the Bowyers bench on the Main page. and check the bow classifieds for used bows.

I'm not trying to take business away from any sponsor but with a little reading and a trip to your local home improvement store for a red oak or hickory board you can build a bow from scratch. It doesn't matter what your experience level is, with the help of the guys here(specifically on Bowyers Bench)you can make a bow yourself and get the full experience of building your own bow from scratch.
