Bareshaft help...

Greetings All,

I've been dinkin around with carbons trying to find one that will shoot good from my bow.  Well, I'm close, but I cannot seem to get rid of nock high.  I've walked the nock up and down on the string and get close (@ 3/8th above) but it's still there.  I've taken the nock down until I know it's slapping up off the shelf.  I really try to squeeze with my back and keep my elbow parallel to the shaft so the pressure is equal on my fingers (shoot split).  Any suggestions??

I have found the same thing to be true with my set-up. Sooo I'm lookin for an answer also. I know I have shot thru the last 5 deer I have shot so am not to worried about my set-up. My bare shaft seem to fly perfect for about 15yds. and then turns down (tail high)but they hit the same hieght as the fleched shafts out to 25yds. and shoot broadheads just fine.

I'm kinda wondering if the heavy front is just starting to show without the feathers working with the arrow...

Jason, you may be right.  I've had the same thing happen when shooting extremely weight forward carbons, however it corrected itself once I shot a fletched version.  With three 5" helical feathers the same shaft flew in a tight and quiet spin.

Try shooting a broadhead arrow and a field point arrow side by side. If you broadhed hits high or low, adjust your nock set accordingly.

I have found that it is hard to get all the nock high out of your bare shaft if shooting split finger.

I get the same thing with my high FOC carbons.  Drove me nuts for a while.  My fletched arrows (BH and FP) fly fine.

A little lean left or high- say 1" even 2" at 20 yds is an indicator of slightly weak-perfect to fletch. An inch to the right and you still have work to do. This is tuning for a rightie and IMHO.

For me I don't worry about alittle nock high when bareshafting.I look more for left or right position of the nock.

Out of curiosity, you might try a second nock set under the nock, probably a tie on.  If not a tie on, be sure and give it a little space.

This can make a big difference with three under.  Not sure it will help, but may be worth a try for split.
