Do wood arrows have a life of their own?

I have been a gap shooter because I couldn't be consistent shooting instinctively. I decided to give it another try with these wood arrows. I am not knocking nocks off but my consistency is much better out to 20 yards. Could it be the arrows or were the carbons not tuned correctly?
