River cane
« on: February 11, 2012, 08:08:00 PM »
How long should river cane dry before working into arrows? And what is the best time of year to cut it?

Thanks,

James

December through Late February to harvest. Tie in a bundle around a stout straight stick and put up in a dry place.

I usually bundle hill cane and stand it in the utility room for about 2 months. You will drive the remaining moisture out as you straighten and temper it.
