« on: February 15, 2012, 08:39:00 PM »
For a string follow Hill bow how much does the spine have to be weaker than the same weight that is straight?

thanks

In my experience, none.  Depth of shelf cut is what will make the difference, along with the shooter.  For a close start, spine five pounds below draw weight for a 28" arrow and 125 gr point.

None in my experience either.

I'm with Fletcher to a point. Hill bows, all I've owned anyway, are cut 3/16" before center. If your using Dacron(b50) use minus5#'s for spine, if FF start with weight of bow.
Example: 45#28"  B50 spine would be40-44#, FF spine should be 45-49#. This is a reccomendation and is what I use to determine shaft spine. All bows and shooters are different.    :archer:
