Help me decide
« on: February 16, 2012, 03:10:00 PM »
I have worn out my current set of camos ,and I have narrowed my search to getting a Ghillie suit.

I like the Mark Anthony and the Rancho suits, and have looked at countless others, as well as read most of the older topics in TG about Ghillie suits. I would like some input from the members here, good, bad, and ugly, and if there is another brand that may be a better choice that I haven't seen, by all means throw it in. BTW, I made my own suit once, using a one piece flight suit, netting and jute. Turned out good, but I made it when I weighed  145#s,  those days are long gone  :)

What I will be using it for-

Ground hunting  in east Texas during bow season for whitetail.

Varmint hunting primarily in East Texas, but statewide possible.

All my hunting will be from the ground going forward.
All input appreciated!

My advice would be to make your own. There is a great thread in the archives here on tradgang about making a ghillie suit specifically for use with a trad bow.

Make one with the synthetic material rather than the jute.
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a
difference in the world, but the Marines don’t have that problem.
