Anyone hunt with Roy Hall- Navajo Bows?

I just bought one yesterday, and it should be on its way to me shortly.

It's a Navajo Chief Recurve 60" and 40 @ 28.

I noticed on the Navajo web-site he builds these bows down to 56 inches.
Do any of you know if he has a recomended draw length for his bows? I'm thinking I'd like to get a set of shorter limbs for turkey hunting from a blind.
Any of ya'll priced extra limbs for a Navajo?

What are your thoughts on these bows?

In my experience Roy is a great guy and makes a really nice bow.  My first custom was a Navajo td longbow--great shooter, but as my taste in longbows developed it just wasn't "the" bow for me.  Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone in the market.

Give him a holler--he can tell you more about his bows than anyone here can.

I owned one at one time it was a very nice shooting bow no complaints I think you will like it .

I have a 3-piece longbow. Not the quickest or lightest bow around, but nice & smooth. It's a 62" 57# @ 28" & I'm drawing her to 29-1/2" with no trouble at all. I spoke to Roy a couple of weeks back about some heavier limbs & they were running at (I think) $575 for bamboo cores w/bocote laminates under clear glass. Turnaround time is around 5-6 months & he will need your bow back to fit the limbs. All of his limbs are individual to the bow & ARE NOT interchangeable. Bummer.

Don't know about the recurves, but I was very surprised how slow the longbow is for such a reflexed limb-design. 174fps was the fastest I saw over the chrono, shooting a 489gn arrow & that was only after changing strings from an 18 strand D97 flemish to a 12 strand TS1 endless!
I changed back to the heavier string & was getting around 158fps although many have commented that the bow is silent & that's good enough for me!  :D

robtattoo- Thanks! I was kinda afraid it may need to be sent back. Yea, BUMMER! But with the cost of extra limbs, I may be better to just find another second hand bow. And I hate to wait too!

Still, I'll weigh my options.
I've emailed him. If he don't reply soon I'll give him a call.

I'm glad to hear the bows are quiet. That's the one thing I've been able to find out about them so far. Is that they're quiet.

I've got an Apache 58", 56#@28".  This is only my third trad bow so I'm no expert, but after shooting about 50 different bows for several weeks trying to decide, this one seemed just like an extension of my arm.  It was one of about 3 or 4 that I used to compare the others.

Funny thing, mine will fling a 500 gr arrow at 186 fps at my 28" draw.  Not a slow bow by any means.  However, it is noisier than my Black Feather.  My BF may be the quietest bow I've ever shot, so that may not be a good comparison.  My experience is a little different than the fella's posts above.

I chose a Roy Hall when I was fortunate enough to have my pick of any bow.  I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

I've got an Apache longbow 66" 50@28 it's a great
shooter and very smooth, and Roy Hall is a great guy to deal with. I bought mine second hand and it had a little problem and he took care of it for free.

friend of mine was a dealer and we got to try a lot of roys bows,, basicly all where very pretty and would make any of you proud, 2 they shot decent with nice grips and very forgiving, 3rd some where slow and some where fast?????  I found I liked his traditional recurve model the best and my buddy liked the scout model the best or if I have the name wrong it was the t/d longbow thats similar to a Bob lee LB.

very nice bows though and seem really tough,,  I'd try to shoot one first though just to get the right one for me.

My wife and I have 4 Navajo Scout Longbows between us and we love them! Great shooters and they hit where you are looking. Roy Hall is a very nice person to deal with. However, the cost of the new bows is high.

I have a buddy that has a three piece Scout, 55# @ 28", 56" limbs.  He pull's it to 29" witout any stack.  I was very surprized with the 56" limbs.  I would not hesitate to have a set.
