Made some antler bolts
« on: February 21, 2012, 12:14:00 PM »
I wanted some antler bolts for my new Legends bow and looked around.I found some plastic ones on line, but I decided I wanted the real thing. So I made some, I showed Mike at Legends bows and he grabbed a set ,and so did his friend ,so I made another set for me .I think they look pretty good ,they make my arrows fly straighter ?    web pageantler bolts

Do you guys use a washer system of some kind under those things?

They look cool as hell, but i worry about not getting even pressure on the limbs if they are not perfectly square to the back of the limb butt.

Kirkll, the bolts are set up the same as the original bolts and washers. We tested them on 45# to 60# with never a problem. If I remember right it adds about 820 grains to the riser? although each one is different .It can help stabilize a light riser ,or they are nice if you like a little more weight.

Can you make some to fit a silvertip?(they don't have the bolt attached but are threaded for the bolt that sticks out of the riser).

I never was much of a horn bolts kinda guy.Just thought they looked to fake. Most were fake is why. When Leon brought his custom made horn bolts in to show me I couldn't believe how nice they are.Really like them on my "Cyclone" longbow.I need to add just a tad more bow weight for my needs. The horn bolts were just right. These are so well made Im wanting to offer them as a option on my bows.Im hoping he and I can work something out.
