arrow fletching question
« on: July 26, 2007, 01:28:00 PM »
Has anyone had any problems getting feathers to stick to a beman camo hunter shaft? A friend of mine has some and has had problems getting feathers to stick. He wants me to re-fletch them for him and I was wanting to get some input before I got started on them. I guess I was wondering if there was anything special you had to do or did he have a bad fletch job not a clean shaft or wrong glue ect.

I would lightly steel wool wear the flecth goes and than wipe with acetone or rubbing alcohol. Shawn

Wipe them down with lacquer thinner or acetone (wear  protective gloves) this ensures that no residue is left on the shaft that might interfere with the fletching cement forming a good bond.

Use fletch tape. I have been using it on the last dozen shafts with outstanding results. The best part is no dry time. Once in place you can move on to the next one.

YES SIR

Go with the fletch tape.  I haven't glued a feather in five years.  The stuff is awesome.  I have it on Beman ICS Venture shafts and havent had a feather rip off yet.  THey stick great on gasket lacquer as well.
  Fletch tape all the way.

Had some troubles lately with some Carbon Express Heritage arrows with the tape not sticking.  Whiped the shaft withan alcohol pad and it made an excellent improvement.
