You guys aren't the only ones that have been thinking about it and putting it off.  Me too, as I sit here with a Colorado big game handbook in hand.

Well if you do bivy, then you might want to splurge on some of the higher dollar hunting clothes that dry fast. If your not coming  back to a full camp every night you need better clothes if the weather  gets bad, its snowed more than once early in the season especially in the higher areas.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

I agree. We had significant rain everyday last year, culminating in a few inches of snow the last day.

Yeah, I'm still trying to decide where to go and from there, I will plan accordingly on the clothing types, and certain other gear.

I have been worrying alot lately about the altitude thing. I have never been to the mountains before, and I am pretty nervous. Not gonna stop me, but I'm sure I will be nervous for the duration of the interim until I step out of my truck. Never gonna know until I try, I guess.

The one thing I have not heard mentioned here that I mention to all my friend that come form the east coast to visit is the importance of staying hydrated. A friend mine that is an ER doc even recommends a protocol of the first day at the level of Denver to have people drink a total of 64oz for an average person  spread out over 8hrs half water the other half gatorade. i have found this is a good base line and since most of my friend are above average height or weight we adjust accordingly. So try and remember that electrolytes need to be replaced along with staying hydrated.

Don't rush it. Try to resist the urge to hit the ground running the first day and don't over exert yourself. If I'm truck camping, I like to take my time setting up camp completely. If time permits I will usually go for a walk staying at the same elevation. Next year will be my first year packing in and I guess I won't have that option.
