bear grease
« on: March 12, 2012, 12:03:00 PM »
Getting harder to get used fryer oil for bear baiting. I know you can dip from the waste oil bins behind the restaurants! Was just wondering if anyone has come up with some sort of pump to speed the process of collection? I was thinking of some sort of electric pump attached to a drill with two hoses. Not sure if these pumps could handle the viscosity of the grease. Any ideas would be appreciated. Pics of setups would be even better. Thanks... Richard.

Talk to the restaurant.  They will probably dump it into your containers if you ask them.

Maybe a hand crank pump like the kind that fit on a 55 gallon barrel for oil? They will pump heavy weight oilcso they might pump fryer oil and grease. Just my thoughts good luck.

many restaurants drain it into the original jugs and then take it outside and dump it into the bulk tank. it seems like some of them might be willing to just leave a few jugs for you. It would save them some time

I'm a restaurant manager, just make sure you ask. (I'm sure you do)  The container we keep ours in is provided by the company that cleans our grease trap. They actually make $$ off the stuff.

Thanks for the offer Tom.. I'll have to do as Ryan says and get my Winnipeg ghetto roots going here in Edmonton. From what Ryan says, the best black gold is Kentucky Fried Chicken grease. Apparently the bears find it finger licking good also. Rich.
