58" vs 60" longbow
« on: March 13, 2012, 10:34:00 PM »
Can anyone share their experience between the two different length longbow? I currently have a 60" Centaur and was looking into a 58". My draw length is 28 1/4". Will I get finger pinch? What about smoothness? I've read some people don't shoot as accurate compare to longer bow. Is there any truth to that? What purpose does 58" serve? I primary hunt and 3D shooting.

With your 28.25" draw a 58" Centaur would be fine. I'm shooting a 60" with my 30" draw.

I have a 58" Super Shrew and a 60" Super Shrew.  They're about 10# different in draw weight, so it's tough to guage 'feel'.  As far as accuracy goes, they both shoot accurate for me at my 29" draw. Finger pinch isn't noticable in either.  If it's apples to apples, you'll probably notice a little difference, but your draw isn't excessive, so you shouldn't have problems dropping to a little shorter bow in that style of longbow.

That's a bold statement. Sliced bread is pretty damn good.    :D

I believe you will notice little difference between the 58" and 60". I have a 58" Centaur and a 60" Griffin, and with a 29" draw I have found both perform very well without pinch.

You won't have any trouble with the 58" Centaur.

I prefer a longer bow even in a hybrid so I would not be comfortable with anything less than 60". For you though if have shot any 58" bow and didn't notice any finger pinch than I doubt you will have any with a Centuar.
