What a bow!
« on: March 16, 2012, 10:49:00 AM »
I just had to write something about the bow I'm currently shooting.  It's a 70" 75#@28" Northern Mist Classic.  Black glass on front and back.  Here's the thing.  This bow was built in 1994 and still doesn't have a mark on it!  I got in another location from a guy who's friend ordered it but when it came in he couldn't handle the weight.  Years later the guy I bought it from bought it but couldn't handle the weight so just left it in a bow sock.  I was looking and bought this bow for a song!  Of all the bows I've seen I can honestly say I've never seen the meticulous, hand work that this one has.  The edges are smooth and pefect, the riser the grip, all of it is a work of art and it shoots heavey arrows just as good as it looks.  In the Traditional magazine article with Steve I see he hadn't yet began building bows full time when he built this one but I now know why he had a good enough following to do it.

I just picked up a Sheldon used. I can't wait to try it. It seems these bows have a good reputation, yet they are very inexpensive.

My Classic is hands down my favorite bow. Gil is getting his Shelton from me and it is also a sweet shooter but too light for me. No reason for it just hanging on the wall.

I also would like to see some pics of your classic, and if you ever want to part with it, please let me know. Steve makes an awesome bow. Personally, I doubt I will ever purchase another new bow that doesn't come from Steve.
