Bare Shaft tuning my recurve
« on: March 29, 2012, 05:31:00 PM »
I just recently decided to try a tab instead of a glove that i normally shoot.  as i'm bare shaft tuning my arrows i'm getting different results from a tab and from my glove, is this normal? i assume not and that its probably a poor form issue on my part any suggestions would be great thank you

I bet you are showing weaker? I switched from glove to tab and my release is much cleaner. Seems I actually picked up a little speed. can't really prove it but sure seems that way.

i switched different tabs and it made a difference.how you are holding and releasing the string makes a difference.I am sure going fron glove to tab would be a big diff.

Recently was bareshafting/tuning a new bow. I was switching to tabs at the same time. Big mistake. Caused me lots of tuning headaches.

I would see big differences between different tabs!

So I had to stop tuning for a few days, and focus on what tab I wanted to stick with, then tune.

This was not a form issue. For instance, there is a big difference in a cordovan tab verses a superleather.

I also notice that different tabs make me release differently. I really like the Eichler tab and shoot good with it. The only problem is I get blisters where the nock rides in between my fingers. I have found that my cheap old super leather NEET archery tab works just as good protects my fingers better.

makes me wonder, I was tinkering with a bow recently, might remember the post....I didnt think of this but I was swapping from tab back to glove.  Originally started with a glove and 10ish years or so went to a tab. Recently started shooting a glove again in the last year or so now.  Makes me wonder if this wasnt a big factor in my problem....gonna have to tinker some more now lol.

Hmmm.....never new of it to change my tune but definitely changed my point of impact when switching from glove to tab to glove.

Now I use Black Widow tabs exclusively. Tried a Bateman once and it changed my point of impact so I traded it for another BW.
