fletching question for carbon arrows.

I want to shoot 5" fletches on Gold Tip 5575 arrows.Do I need a helical jig, or just offset the jig I have? Being a carbon,it doesn't look like I'll get much offset. I want to shoot both broadheads and field points. Thanks!

I shoot Easton FMJ 500's which is smaller in diameter than your Gold Tip 5575's and have no problem getting plenty of helical on my feathers. Therefore, you should have problem getting enough off-set with your jig. IMO, I prefer helical over off-set.
Good luck, Bob

Take a piece of string and hold the end on the shaft(measuring the diameter), and wrap it around till they touch. Hold that part and straighten it out, and see how much area is really there.
I have a few carbons that get the same helical as my woods do. Plenty of room.

I get a great helical on my 3555s. I would think that offset would be no problem. It is like fletching a 5/16 woodie.
Even without offset, the camber of the feather will impart spin.

How do you "bend" the fletch around the shaft?

Several ways to do that, but if using a jig, a helical clamp is needed.

Thanks, so if I want a right offset, looking down the arrow (nock to tip), it will go to the right?
