Depends upon how petite she is. I guess I am not, because I usually buy men's clothing for the hunt. Manufacturers tend to pay more attention to women's clothes "looking good" than to the basic practicality I am looking for. Fewer, smaller pockets, not as much insulation and other factors drove me to the surplus stores for German wool pants. I wear men's longjohns. The real problem is properly fitting, solidly made boots that aren't "cutesy". I have a hard time finding what I want in a men's size seven. Most places start them at 8. It has taken twenty-plus years for me to amass my Imelda Marcos collection of Sorels and Coleman boots. I always have my eye out for new supplies.

Shell gets most of her stuff from the military surplus too. smaller mens sizes also in the boots, they do seem to cost less too than the womens stuff at Gander mountain or Cabelas but those do have a selection for petites.<><

Sierra Trading Post has really good prices on some decent stuff. However, they only carry certain sizes so you have to check the "more information" link for each article to see what they have in stock.

I find the mens and sometimes the womens hunting clothes to large for me.  Most of my hunting gear is little boys.  You can get it on clearance super cheap.  Kids are larger now, and the companies are making the clothes bigger.

I'm with Killie on the military surplus route. Even when I was in the service stationed in Alaska I was issued men's winter outerwear.

Sportsman's Guide is another place to keep an eye on for surplus in female-friendly sizes.

LL Bean also carries a small selection of hunting clothing in women's sizes. (search the site for women's outdoor clothing, subcategory hunting)
They carry a couple different styles of women's pants; which is always the hardest piece to make work from the men's dept.

If she's real petite, she may be able to wear boys' sizes, which will save a LOT of money! Kids' clothes are way cheaper, but you have to make sure the insulation, etc., is adequate (same for women's "hunting" clothes). Nothing will turn someone off hunting faster than being miserable cold the whole time. (Which is exactly why I've never been much of a duck hunter, even though it is my favorite wild meat.)

I usually end up buying men's hunting clothes, because the quality and selection often is just not there in women's. If it doesn't fit, you're SOL, because it's not like there's another brand to choose from.     Check out these links to Cabela's. The selection of women's clothing is ridiculously sparse. Compare the second link, which is limited to men's cold weather parkas and jackets.
