Titan Riser & Dryad Limbs
« on: May 14, 2012, 11:20:00 PM »
UPS came late tonight

In the box from John Wert was this very cool riser

Here it is with a set of Dryad Epic Bamboo core limbs 50 # - 55 # @28

only thing missing is the quiver which will be along any day

After some admiring of the nicely machined riser ( kinda cool with the little compass )

The medium grip handle felt good and I liked that the limb bolts could be cranked all the way in and the limbs can still be taken on and off do to the machined bolt spacer

The limbs which are shorts when combined with the 19 inch riser mke for a 60 inch bow which is what I favor in a hunting bow @ my 27 inch or so draw

Look at the hook in these limbs

I strung it up with a fast flight string put on some fur silencers adjusted the tiller for an 1/8 inch positive and set the brace height at 7 1/2 inches and put it on the scale

At my draw it scaled 50 #

I have raw shafts to start out with bare shafting and a cut saw but I always go thru my current selection of arrows. In every arrow tube there is always one bare shaft version of that length

The first I grabbed where on the tad stiff side but not by  much

Then I grabbed a bare shaft from my Hoyt Buffalo that scales 55# @ my draw and thank god it flew sweet on my indoor 15 yd range

I have to shoot outside at different distances to be sure but I love when a certain arrow works  out of different bows so I'm hoping for the best again I won't know till I play with it for a bit

Pretty impressive that it's liking an arrow that was made for a bow that is 5 pounds heavier

The riser feels dead in the hand and the bow is quiet

The limbs are lighter than I am used to shooting and are a joy, very smooth and seem to be quite fast.I will chronograph it in the am

Once I get the quiver on and tweak everything I think I will have another winner here. So far I am so impressed that it might be making the trip to the Baltimore shoot his weekend

Thanks to John at TT and mike at Dryad for answering my questions

Good stuff

There will be more after I chrono and get a quiver set up

I am a big fan o great Northerns on my 3 piece recurves and on one piece bows  I like big Jim's  but on ILF rigs I am a huge Kwikee quiver fan. They are simple and the 4 arrow one with the 2 grippers ha been awesome on my other ILF rig

Kwikee on my Morrison ILF

I have a set of Dyrad static tip limbs that are just fantastic. Mine are longs and I have them on a Zipper ILF 17" riser. Best combo I have found yet. You'll like your set up once you get it dialed in

Well I had some time today to shoot and chrono

The whole setup works very nicely @ my 27 inch draw pulling  just shy of 50 # and using a 520 ish grain arrow I got 178 fps

The limbs pull smooth and easy and they are very quiet. Due to the deep hook even though the bow is a 60 inch set up it is actually closer in actual size to a 58 but felt like I was drawing a 60 inch bow

The riser ..... I'm not a big fan of aluminum risers but I'll be damed I really like it......... I like it a lot  :)

I got the medium grip and for me it's right on the money. I shoot with a fairly open grip. Top 3 finger tips on back of bow with this grip my hand slipped right into the same position and the front of the riser was very easy for me to index hence the repeatability factor for a clod like me goes up. I found the grip very comfortable and this riser is excellent.

I much prefer the grip to the medium grip I put on my Buffalo.  The Broadhead cutouts on the riser have really grown on me and I think once the quiver is on they actually complement th bow very nicely.

As much as I was pleased with this bow I hung it up after getting it dialed in. I'm gonna try and make the Baltimore shoot this weekend and don't wanna try and switch bows before the shoot. I've been shooting my Morrion and BF Extreme bow and plan on taking that.  The five pound lighter weight of this setup made it tempting but then the thought of slapping my medium BF's on the Titan that would make a 62 inch 52 to 57 # rig. Dial it in to about 54 # that should make a wicked 3 d rig.  Oh the endless possibilities with switching and swapping parts with hese ILF rigs  :)

Here my beautiful enthusiastic daughter graciously volunteered to hold the bow for setup ready to hunt bow pics

Thx for looking

That is pretty cool. I have been thinking about a Dryad ILF set up and always thought the Titan risers were kind of ugly but that is not too bad!

I am guessing you won't be needing those tips anymore.....??

There is felt on the quiver

I do it to deaden the plastic hood from banging it in to something

Quick and easy

On an all business bow that is threaded you can't beat a Kwikee quiver IMHO

Love my Great Northerns and big Jim's but on these threaded ILF rigs  I like my 4 arrow double grabber Kwikee' s

178 fps out of -50lb is pretty dang impressive when your arrow is 527 grains!
