For those not familiar with ArcTrap (www.arctrap-asso.com), it's an organized event in Europe where archers compete shooting aerial targets.  Foam disks are thrown from mechanical throwers and the archer's score is based on hits.  It's similar to clay shooting with a shotgun but the disks are thrown straight up everyone uses bows and flu flus.  They are now in their fifth year over there and I think it would be a lot of fun to try here.  Not only would it be fun but also great practice for real birds, which is coming right up.

I have been working with Laurent Ivaldi, International ArcTrap Associciation president and Co-founder, on possibly setting up an ArcTrap event in the United States.

They look like a very fun event that can help archers practice aerial targets and increase their bowhunting success.

Would you be interested in participating?  Do we have any tradgangers overseas that have been able to participate in any of these shoots?

I was looking on their website, i would be interested but do you know if the sell the version of the thrower for a single person to own?

They are using the one and only Laporte Pheonix priced at $5,995.  I do not know of one that would fall into the consumer class at this point.

But, if we have any designer/engineers that are talented at building new machines or protoypes around here, I would love to talk to them.

They had one here two weeks ago, but imissed the shoot. Love to try it

Though not a competition, they have one at the Whittingham shoot here in N.J., it's put on by the Appalachian bowman. They put on a first class shoot and the aerial machine is real cool.

Hope this helps.

I have used a clay pigeon thrower with a 2" foam disc. Just trimmed the side of the disc down until it would fit into the slot where the clay pigeons go. Used a long rope to release it.
