leaving a bow sit for years....

Many of us have multipule bows and some just sit because we are shooting our other bows. How long can a bow actually just sit (unstrung and on a bow rack inside- and out of the sunlight ) without being shot and still be fine?
Lets hear what your experiences have been.

I have a 70's Super Grizzly I bought new in 1981. When I joined the USAF it sat a long time. Then came along kids, job, gun huntin', 'til I got right. Been shootin' it for two years now pretty hard.
Not issue one.

I've got an old bow I bought used 22 years ago. I think it's a Pearson or something from the 70's. I shot it a little bit and then it sat, unstrung, leaning in the corner for those 22 years. It shoots great and has no limb twist. I realize I may have gotten lucky but it's obvious they can sit for a long time to no ill affect.

With fiberglass laminate bows, for as long as they have been being made, pending things such as workmanship and whatnot. Selfbows, not quite the same story. (Though they can have surprisingly long life if well cared for.)

I shoot 50 year old bows frequently. I have many bows and sometimes one will sit for years. I take good care of my my Archery equipment and when I revisit an old bow its like connecting with an old friend!!

If properly taken care of, I agree with others, a lifetime.
