Question for Texas Trad Gangers
« on: August 01, 2007, 08:04:00 PM »
I just found out that I'm going to be coming down to Texas for some business in October. I will be in the El Paso area for several days and I'm looking at extending my trip. Are there any good hunting opportunities within a 2-3 hours drive of El Paso? Maybe hogs? I've never been down that way before so any suggestions would be appreciated

Owl, try TPWD.com check public hunting. You might contact Mahaska Custom Bows, they do some trips to Davis Mtn. area. Brad

Yellow Owl,

Closest public hunting I can think of within 2-3 hrs of El Paso would be one of the WMA's(Wildlife Management Areas)down in the Big Bend country.  What you will need to get is an Annual Public Hunting permit.  See link:

 http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/public/

This area is within the Trans-Pecos region of Texas and is very rugged....but beautiful.  Mostly mule deer and javelina.  I don't think there are any hogs in that region....yet.

Hope that helps,

Brett

Don't over look opportunities in New Mexico. They might be better then what you will find in that part of Texas.
