The last twenty or so deer I killed with 53 pounds did not have time to complain about it. I've also had great success hunting in africa three different times and the heaviest bow I **** was 55 pounds and I'm talking about some BIG critters including a bull eland. Sharp broad heads shooting accuracy and arrow weight are where it's at. You are set for deer and bears.

Try out some heavy arrows, starting at 500 gr. and maybe heavier. When adding weight, put on head for higher FOC.

Get it sharp, get it flying straight, get it where it belongs. For the most part, the rest of this stuff (gpp, foc, blah-blah_blah) is more important on the internet than in the woods.  ;)

Plenty for sure. I'll be shooting 47 to 50 pound bows this season to help with a shoulder problem.Have no doubt they will work on deer and hogs.

I haven't been on TG that long, but this question seems to come up a lot. Yes, yes, YES!  50# is enough to take just about anything in north america.  In fact, 50# shot well is ALWAYS better than 80# shot marginally.  Above all else, accuracy kills.

Amen, Jason.  Put the wicked-sharp broadhead where it needs to be, and the rest will work itself out.  That's pretty much trad hunting.  All that other mumbo-jumbo is nice to pontificate about but doesn't really put meat in the freezer.

Sure is, I shot a hog with a 45# LB a few years ago and it died just as fast as the one I shot this year with a 55# LB.  Sharp broadheads and good arrow flight are more important in my opinion.
