Snuffers at #47

Folks with experience in the matter, do you think a #47 bow shooting a 490 grain arrow mid-160 has enough gas to reliable push 125 grain classic snuffers through #100-200 whitetails? Local gun shop still has several packs of old stock for cheap.

Back in my younger days I killed several whitetails (a couple pretty good sized ones) and 3 black bears (2 were good ones) with setups about like what you describe and the full sized (160 grain) Snuffers. I wouldn't worry about penetration at 500 grain/mid 160's FPS.

When my sons were young (10 or 12 years old) they were not getting a very good recovery rate on deer using the smaller 2 blades that I thought they needed using light equipment, some were maginal hits, some good hits. I switched thier broadheads to snuffers and we had better blood trails that resulted in 100% recovery . They were only shooting 45# at the most with short draw lengths. Penetration was about the same ,more than enough !!

I shoot a 38# longbow with 428gr. 1816 arrows topped with a 125gr. snuffer and have had sucess with this setup more than once. Used snuffers with bows weighing from high 50's to present with success.

A definite "yes".
The old timers in my youth did it all the time with 45# bows.

BISCUIT? ( think that's the right name)
Who makes snuffers gave me the big thumbs up on 45# at 29" with a wood arrow.

Absolutely! As far as sharpening the three blades, a bastard file works great! I usually finish on a fine stone.

They used to zip right through coming out of a 50# bow for me, unless you hit a shoulder on the opposite side. Either way, it's too late for the deer.
