Whats your favorite? I like heavy and so far the heaviest I have is 650 grains with the broadhead. They are cedar.

I really like doug fir from surewood.  They are typically heavier than cedar.  For stumping arrows I use a lot of laminated birch.  They are tough and heavy.  If you like real heavy try some ash or hickory.

tapered and barrel tapered Ash. Small diameter, heavy, tough. Needs some tweaking now and then but that's minor compared to the benefits. This last batch of BTA is spined 55=60# and finished arrow weight is around 585 grains. Perfect for my 57/58# bows.

I'm not exactly sure but the arrow I made from a sourwood shoot for the St. Jude Auction was somewhere around 730gr. And I  believe it was around 30.75" BOP.

It was a brute.

Never did figure out the FOC%.

With a 200 grain head my suewood Douglas firs weigh around 650-660, there spined 65-70# I hunt some big stuff and can't see a need for much heavier out of 60-65# bows.

I like spruce.
Lighter and stronger than cedar.
lighter and I think stronger than fir.

I shoot a 45# bow.
The lighter spruce shaft keeps me out of the 13+ gpp range.
