Herter Perfection Mag ?
« on: August 02, 2007, 08:57:00 PM »
Am setting up a Herter Perfection Mag for a buddie and would like to know if anyone knows the brace height I should start at?
Bow is a 1977 model, 60".
I cannot believe the riser on this beast, it is one huge piece of Rosewood. Bow was bought brand new from Herters in 1977 and has never been shot since purchase. Has just sat in a bow rack for 30 years.  Only flaw is that it is missing the arrow rest and it is right handed!!!

Should be 9 3/4" - 10 1/4" measured to the back of the riser.

I would be interested to see a photo of it if possible and the serial number. Perfection Mags were one of their best shooting bows IMHO  :)

Rick, not sure he is interested in selling it. Had a whole bunch of brand new Herters Recurves he bought brand new when Herters went out of business. Most he resold at a garage sale long ago. Now he has a few left, a couple really shorties they used to use for hunting and a couple other that have never been shot, even after 30 years!!!  No lefties for me though:(
Brian, I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. S/N is 6001077XXX

My first Herters bow was a 1971 Sitka bought new. Missed a lot of deer with it hunting out of ground blinds   ;)   Not the bows fault, just the 15 year old behind it. Many happy memories    :)   One of my brothers got ahold of it when I was away in the service and wrecked it!

Replaced it with a metal handled Perfection takedown. Super shooter but eventually sold it to one of my other brothers.

Bucksnort thanks for the serial number, it definately appears to be an October 1977 Mag. Look forward to the pics.
