How to remove Tru oil
«

Was refinishing an old recurve today and got some Tru oil on the limb glass.Does anyone know how i might remove it without sanding? The limbs look fine except for a few smudge marks from my fingertips and carelessness on my part.

I just use fine steel wool, just don't get too aggressive . Might have to go over all the glass to get the same satin look.

Thanks, kinda what i figured just really didn't want to have to possibly go over the whole limb.Think maybe hitting the spots with Goo Gone and a little elbow grease might get it off?

That goo gone is powerful stuff , might work on the original finish.
It doesn't take but a few minutes to buff up a set of limbs with steel wool.

Does the Tru Oil give the limbs a gloss finish?

Tru-oil does dry pretty shiny, it really brings out the grain in wood. It also buffs to a satin easily.
Some folks spray a satin poly or something to get the dulled finish.
