How do I tune Easton axis arrows?

I have full length Easton axis 400 arrows that have the hit inserts in them. They are too long so I was going to paper tune them and cut them down since they are too weak but how do I put points in the arrow without gluing the inserts in every time I cut them down a little?

Glue the feathers on the shaft, then rip off the feathers[leaving the shaft of the feather] and this will give you as close of a spine as possible. This gives you a read on what the arrow is doing without the feathers correcting any problems.
 Cut them from the nock end and after getting perfect flight-fletch a couple and try them out.

I use hot glue or Bohning Ferr-L-Tite  Cool Flex Hot Melt Glue.  Haven't had any problems yet.  I use stu cal to get close & start at 1/2 in longer, then I cut down 1/4 in until I get nock straight or slightly stiff. I seems to work for me.

If you don't wanna cut from the back or glue and reheat over and over for fear of ruining the shaft.  You can take a tiny piece of cling wrap and wrap it around the insert and use the HIT tool and push it down in the shaft like you would if gluing it in.  This will make for a tight fit and allows you to screw a field point on and shoot it as if it were glued in.  Just shoot it into a bag target or something soft and it will fine.   Mine fit very tight doing this and if you need to cut the arrow for tuning, unscrew the field point half way, grab with pliers and pull insert and point out all at once.  Cut and repeat if necessary.   Sorry so lengthy but it works and hope it helps.

I do the same as chenryiv. The cool flex works rather well, and is very easy to work with. I can pull an insert, cut and square the shaft and re-glue the insert, and be shooting that same arrow in about 3 minutes!

Blue cool flex or any low temp hot melt glue.
A cup of boiling water (212 deg) should be enough to lossen the insert and won't hurt the carbon

Use fletch tape, for the feathers and Bohning or a hot melt glue.  I would suggest heating the tip separately, then add glue to insert. Reverse the process to remove, heat tip > screw in > remove insert.

I have a foam target the arrow goes part way through. I just pull the arrow all the way through, pull the point and insert out, cut and retest.  A little hard on fletches but it works best for me. The target is about 6" thick and I only use it for tuning arrows so it doesnt get shot out.
