It is free and you need to have excel or excel reader on your computer or it will not work. If you have it and download the program. Hoghly recommend download the instructions with it. It will explain in detail how to use it.

Have also found out from experience and from a response from Stu, that his calculator doesn't work with Mac computers.

If you don't have Excel and don't want to pay big bucks for it. You can also download "Open Office" for free. Just Google open office to find it. It is a free program that emulates many of the Microsoft office programs (like Excel), but it's free to download.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the link that says, "Dynamic Spine Calculator Rev 12-25-10 (v2)
updated 2-14-2011."

Click yes to save or whatever the window says. After the download completes, go to wherever you saved it (probably My Documents > Downloads. Open the STU file there and follow the install instructions. Actually, now that i think about it, i don't think there is any installation process - you just open it from wherever you saved it. You should be good to go after that.

If you don't have Microsoft office, download (free) Open Office here:    http://www.openoffice.org/     It's basically the same install process. Open Office will handle all Microsoft office files.

As far as actually using STU's, there are good instructions.

*Edit* I see I was late with the open office suggestion. I'm typing on a phone.

Actually, Stu has a brand new version with a cool animated bar on the right hand side.  This bar has a colored band which is your target for the arrow and the bow.  I like it better than the earlier versions because you can see how minute changes (such as strand numbers in strings) might affect the set-up.

I don't think this one is available yet on Stu's website. He sent it to several of us here at Trad Gang when a thread about the new one was active.  I love it!

Bowwild, any idea when Stu's calculator may be available for use? I use the older version  regularly to set up my bows and it get's me pretty close.
