Another ? for the woodie experts

Is it possible to get POC #60 11/32 as low as 8gpi bare shaft? I'm trying to build a set that'll be as close as possible to my carbons but I've never seen anything that low. If not POC is anything else close?

Nope. Just won't be able to find it in cedar. May come closer in Sitka spruce, but even then, I doubt you'll be able to get under 300 grains for a full length 11/32 shaft.

Your only choice for getting that bare shaft weight down would be a barrel taper or nock taper. These options start getting a little pricey and I'm not sure you would ever get the weight down to under 300 grs even with the taper. I know my woodies are going to come out between 500 and 600grs. You can add weight to wood or get heavier shafts but making them lighter is another matter.

Sitka spruce has the highest strength to weight ratio of any wood and is the lightest of the arrow woods. About the lightest you will get in a 60 lb spine tail tapered shaft is 320 gr full length, which is 10+ gpi. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 8 gpi isn't gonna happen. I don't see that even with 5/16 40 lb sitka shafts.
You can go down in spine and point weight and get to the same total arrow weight and the arrows will shoot very close if not the same.

SS will be the closest you'll get. Good stuff. It's my shaft of choice.

It is my experience that 10 GPI is about the lowest weight you can get. Like already said, Sitka Spruce has the highest strenght to weight ratio and is very strong.

Yep. Pretty much what everyone else said. I just made a batch of Sitka spruce and with a 160 grain treeshark on the end they weigh just under 600 grains. Maybe 560?
