Traded for a Schafer
«

Like alot of others I'm always trading and swapping a few bows. I like to see how different bows shoot. Never know when I may find something I like better than my ol' standby.
Anyway, I made a trade last week for a 62" Schafer Silver Tip Takedown that is 57#@29". Nothin fancy, Walnut Dyamondwood riser with walnut stained actionwood limbs. Just the weight I was looking for with my 29-1/4" draw.
When it came in this morning I was like a kid in a candy store. Couldn't want to give it a try.
Now I know why so many of you that have one rages so about them. This puppie is really a nice shooter. Even though I not that pumped about the grip I think I can learn to get along with it.
Anyway, gotta get back to work. May be early next week before I have time to find the exact arrow setup for it. Hopefully the weather will cool off as well. I hate trying to setup and arrow when it so hot. Walked outside just to see how it shot and sprung a leak in less than two minutes.

Mine is smoooooooth and really fast for such a light bow -- I shoot 58 at 29 inch draw and it spits an arrow out real fast!

Congrats on your new bow. Love my TD-RC, have a new 1pc RC coming, and thinking about a 1pc LB. When the new 1pc gets here, going to either get or order a 1pc LB

Troy, you're the first guy I've ever heard say that you didn't like the way a 'Tip shakes hands. They to like to be shot fairly high wristed, I'd say 60% of the pressure of the bowhand should around the wrist (or more) They for sure don't like a lot of heel.
With a draw that long on a 62", I'd try 5575 GTs with a 50 grain insert and 145 head, 125 might even work.
Welcome to the club :D Glad you finally met your new favorite bow.

Dan,
As with anything it takes different strokes to fit different folks.
The web part of the grip is too big. It allows my hand to slip around. It's not something I couldn't get used to, but for now I'd have to wear a thick glove for the bow to fit my hand the way I like.
As for shooting high wrist? Not for me, I don't shoot with alot of heel, but do shoot with the palm of my hand fitting fully into the grip.
I'll stick with my Beman shafts. They like the 300gr Tuffheads better.

This bow is marked 57#@29" I wish it was a pound ot two heavier. When your shooting 800+gr arrows that couple extra pounds really helps.
Still it pulls smooth enough to make it worth the trade.
