I look at the bow in the corner...
« on: July 08, 2012, 02:57:00 PM »
...then I look at the thermometer.  So far, the thermometer is winning.  I have been out of pocket for a couple of weeks for CEU training and vacation and I really want to shoot but it has been over 100 here for a long time.

I almost bought an old Hoyt takedown from a guy out in NC.  I was thinking it would make a good fishing bow since it had lots of holes in it.    :D    But, the limbs would move side to side in the pockets.  Made me a teensy bit skeered.  It had all the necessary holes for a reel and such... too bad.

I know what you mean.

I live close to PA'a highest point so a hot day here is 82 degrees. It's been mid 90's and very humid all week. I had the week off and planned on doing lots of shooting and groundhog hunting. Just too stinking hot for much outside besides dipping in the pool.

I was in Pennsylvania last week.  Around Philadelphia mostly.  My son competed in a Taekwondo tourney up there.  It was as hot up there as we expect it to be here in north Mississippi.  The locals really seemed to melt.

The gym we competed in had no A/C or it wasn't working.  It got pretty sticky in there by afternoon.

Really pretty up there.  We saw several bucks in the little town nearby.

I have to practice in the heat. Antelope season opens Aug 15th, and it is darn hot in a blind, like an oven!

September deer and elk season is pretty warm as well. I have to practice in the same conditions I will be hunting in.

(we hit the low 90's last week, I thought I was gonna die!)

I have bowhunted elk in New Mexico and Colorado.  It can get pretty warm there in September...but, there might be frost every morning.  You just never know.  I have never hunted antelope, but I nearly ran over a few of them.

....same deal here in Indiana. Been needing to shoot some. Start the day @ 7 a.m. and it's already in the 80s. Over 100 by noon and it's been 105 at quitting time. Working outside on asphalt and concrete so I think it feels even hotter! By the time the chores are done I am flat drained. Look to get some relief from the temps this week, now if we can get some rain. No measurable rainfall in almost 2 months. Really hard on food sources and the critters in general.

Went and shot my bow today for only 20 minutes. I was soaking wet and gave up. First time shooting in about 3 weeks due to the heat. Still shot good but the temp sucked

Yall want some cheese with that whine?   Need me to call a waaambulance?

I was out in it all day. Know why?  Cause I heard the challenge call of the wild catfish, and I had to answer.  They ain't gonna catch themselves and march into my icebox on their own!  I'm the pied piper of bluecats.

It was either that or church with my girlfriend.

102-106 here most of last 2 weeks, I have gotten out just at dark and shot 30-40 arrows, by the time I am done, look like I have been sprayed with a hose.

I have done a little bowfishing since it has been so warm.  Man that is fun.  I tend to short draw the bow a good deal of the time if I fail to concentrate on my anchor.  I guess I try to shoot too quickly.

I feel your pain. The heat is down to 90 here, but gotta put up with tons of rain for that small luxury.   "[dntthnk]"

It's been hot and dry here all summer. We got some rain last night but we need a lot more. It's hard to shoot when it's 105 degrees. I wait till near dark and shoot as much as I can. It's just really too hot to do much of anything. Ahh... I really hate summer.  :banghead:
