1st season with a 70 incher

I purchased a new 70" Hill a couple of months ago and this will be my first season with a bow this long. Since ive always hunted with bows shorter than this, Id like to hear from the other 70" shooters out there on their experiences in the field with this length of bow.

I have been hunting with a 70" bow for 2 seasons now. If you hunt on the ground it only matters when its really thick. That is not much of a problem here [AZ] That said I killed a pig with it in TX. In a river bottom. If things had gone better it would have killed an elk in CO last year.

I have never had a problem on the ground or in a tree. I have hunted with a 68" for a long time in the past. I have some 70" I intend to hunt this year and I can hardly tell the difference in length.

I've hunted with a 69" and a 70" for the last couple of years, too. I've hunted in some really thick areas with them, from dense swamps to ridges choked with mountain laurel. I primarily spot and stalk or use natural blinds and haven't found the length to be a hindrance at all. I did manage to shoot a coyote out of a pop up blind a couple of years ago. That was the only time I wished for a shorter bow.

I'm glad this came up. My local range has a Earl Hoyt jr 69" trophy longbow for sale but I keep backing out because of the length

The only time I have trouble is in a stand shooting at a steep angle if your wearing a coat.Because of the string angle. Other than that no worries.
