Broad head alignment?

For a 2 blade glue on broad head is there a certain alignment pattern you guys prefer or does it really matter?

It's just a matter of preference.They fly the same vertical or horizontal.I just check mine to make sure they spin true.

YEARS ago  I was told by a lot of "old Timers"  that  2 blade heads  should  ALWAYS  be mounted horizontal  to the riser and 3 blade heads  ALWAYS   mounted   "V" up !!!!    NEVER  found that to be true.  Look at my wood hunting arrows and you will see EVERY broad-head is mounted slightly different in angle  BUT  Spin true and fly true .   SOME guys will mount their heads so they can see them in their vision ( split or otherwise ) due to gap shooting or other methods of aiming BUT that has nothing to do with flight .

I don't worry about 3-bladed heads, but I like my two-blades vertical. Just calms me somehow.

Horizontal i.e. parallel to the ground.  I like to see over my broadhead, otherwise my eye is drawn to the vertical back of the head and I don't want that distraction.  Horizontal also prevents pulling the back of the blade into your hand, potentially, should your arrows be cut that short or you over-draw.  Flight is the same either way, some would argue otherwise.  Spin test always, a non concentric head (wobbly head) will impede flight and penetration.  Try both, make your own deductions.

If you are shooting a wide broadhead there might be a slight arguement for mounting them horizontally. As they come off the bow and are going through paradox they would be cut through the air as opposed to vertically where they would be pushing air or acting as a sail....I did say a "slight arguement".

First and foremost, they must spin true..

I try to mount my 2 blades at 2 to 8 o'clock or in that area..  I cant my bow and with the heads mounted in that postion they are parallel to the ground, or horizontal.

I have tried both and haven't seen much of a differance.  Just make sure spin true.  One thing I did notice at a time was that on certain bow's mounted horizontal the riser would pull the arrow out of the string.  Just something to make sure, but as far as flight didn't notice a differance.  I do like to have all of them mounted the same.

Usually mount mine vertical but like said above, it does not really matter as long as they spin true.....

I mount mine horizontal, no distraction in my sight picture that way...no difference in flight either way, it's just how I like to do it.

I like to mount mine horizontal + about 15º counterclockwise. (right handed shooter)

This ensures that when my bow is canted, my broadhead is in a parallel plane as the ground.

Just how I prefer... No real flight differences though.

Thanks for all the input!! I jus made my first set of arrows and I really jus want good flight for now but I did notice the switch from points to broadheads I do focus on the head as I draw my bow so I think after reading all of your inputs I need to play with it til I find a spot where I still focus on target instead of my broadheads!!  Thanks again!
