California -A- zone hunt
« on: July 19, 2012, 09:35:00 PM »
Let me start by saying it was hot and dry when we arrived on Friday the temp. was around 100 degrees four of us went to Anthony's ranch in the foot hills next to interstate -5 highway three of us went to hunt and Anthony would drop us off in the morning at different locations .This hunt was put on by Ventura Custom bows.on the ranch you'll see deer ,pigs and all kinds of small game.We stayed in a cabin that made it nice . On opening day Mike one of the hunters took  2X3 Buck with his Ventura custom bow. on Sunday I got a 2x2 buck with my Rainy Day bow. No pigs were taken on this hunt.

Thank you Anthony for a great weekend

George

That is a tuff hunt.  I hated that hell hunting down there.  Ya gotta hunt when they run the season. Congrats

This is my first deer from a tree stand I've always hunted  from the ground sitting in the shade of a large oak tree was nice.

Thanks for your comments the deer we got are average size for A- zone .This area is really nice in the spring time when the grass is green.I'm looking forward to my next deer hunt in Oct. in the coastal range.

Well done!

I struck out for the opener, will wait a few weeks and see if the pressure pushes deer into my area.

Good luck the rest of the season.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Aug 18 Marble Mtn Wilderness B Zone opener. This area burned in 2007 and is now prime habitat. Will be chasing bucks, bears, and rainbow trout.
Can't hardly wait. Any other B Zone hunters?
