Trouble Sharpening Grizzly's???

I am having a little difficulty getting my new Grizzly's to sharpen properly.

I have followed the steps in the How to section, just can't seem to make it happen...below is a pic of what i am running into......Almost the entire length of the head will sharpen but as you can see in the pic, "i colored the edge of the blade with a black sharpie" that the tip....where the black is on the edge...will not or is not making contact with the stone....

 

This is the second head the other one did the same thing just closer to the middle of the blade...ANY ADVICE!!!!

Do i just need to keep it on the coarse stone longer until the bevel matches up....i worked this one about 20 minutes??????

I would move the clamp about to the end of the ferrule.

The broadhead edge should also be parallel to the rear of the clamp and roller.If the front edge of your clamp is against the ferrule,full length,there is no way it can be parallel to the roller.

If it happens in the middle of the blade,the edge grind is probably off,as it comes from the factory.You can also go slightly off parallel if that is what it takes to hit the edge full length.Your black marker will tell you when you are there.Experiment a little.

i center my head on clamp...well almost...slightly more tip than back.

i had an issue with the KME broadhead kit getting the 200gr Kodiaks right due to size of the heads.

switched to Lansky sharpener and was fine....apparently the KME Knife sharpener works better on the larger heads.

Have you tried using a file? And I mean it takes a good one.
My hunting buddy, Sterling taught me to do it. Lay the file almost flat, and stroke from tip to rear. Not a lot of pressure, but you will raise a burr on the back.(eventually). Then just easily stroke the burr off and finish with a diamond stone. We use the folding type for touch ups in the swamp. I have tried stones, and sharpeners and just make a mess, although others have a better touch, and succeed. Griz are not easy to sharpen, but it's our duty to get them sharp, nothing else is acceptable.  Stay after them.

I have always used a coarse file first, then a finer file, then a diamond steel, and finally,  leather stropping to sharpen Grizzly BHs.  It works and works well.  Yes, effort is required.

From your excellent pic, using your set up, you need to continue on the coarse stone UNTIL the entire edge of the blade makes contact with the stone.  You have made good progress thus far....

I hate to say it, but the KME KNIFE sharpening kit is the nutz for Grizzlies.. You can match the existing angle or set it at an angle just slightly greater and get those heads razor sharp.

I believe you'd find it much easier than the broadhead sharpener..

I'd first center the the broadhead in the jig. As it is you may be putting unequal pressure on the edge causing more stock removal from the heel of the blade.
Lay your finger lightly on the blade more toward the the tip.
