need help with Kodiak magnum!
« on: July 31, 2012, 09:21:00 AM »
My buddy has a Kodiak Magnum and needs a new string. I was able to figure out the brace by doing a search. He had it at about 6.5", I knew that was way off . Knew that was way off so tried to twist it in, but wasn't liking the way it looked. The string is fairly old and needs replaced anyways. Bow  says52"AMO so that means it needs a 49" string correct. I know that's normally what you do is subtract three from the bow length, but just wanted to confirm my thoughts since it's a much shorter and older bow than what I'm used too. Also, the bow has white tip overlays and need to know if it is fast flight capable. thanks for the help in advance. My buddy lives in Oklahoma, so I can't just take him down to the local trad shop to get him lined out like usual!

I would get a 48" string.Brace height should be 8",give or take.It probably isn't FF compatible. The serial number or a picture could help establish that.

If it is an older bow then no fastflite. Like Jim said pic would help.

Dacron only on that bow.  AMO does say it should get a string 3" shorter, but that one will get a string 3.5"-4" shorter, so a 48" to 48.5" string.

Endless or flemish will work fine.

Might want to try the new B-55 material, it's dacron but with less creep than the original. Oliverstacy in the sponsors classifieds can build your buddy a top  notch string.

It is a 1970-72. Like others said B 50 or B 55 dacron. If I were making a string for that bow I would make a 48 1/4" string.
