Great day with the Grahams of Hummingbird Bows!
« on: August 05, 2012, 08:23:00 AM »
I had the distinct pleasure to spend the biggest part of my day yesterday with Ben and Linda Graham of Hummingbird Bows at their home and shop outside Mt. Pleasant, NC.

Ben spent 6 hours with me in lessons.  I'm a relative newbie to trad bows (picked up my first recurve this past December), so I believe that the experiences of more established shooters can definately me help to shorten my learning curve.

Ben is an excellent instructor - very supportive!  It was good to hear that my stance and target focus are pretty much spot on (Ben concluded that my years of shooting sporting clays and handgun hunting helped here).  He video taped my form, and gave me pointers to work on as far as my release.

After a delicious lunch (I think I put on a few pounds  :) ), Ben gave me a tour of his bow shop.   This alone was worth the 3 hour drive down, as I learned what all is involved in building a custom bow.

We looked at trophies (shooting - most of them from Linda) and their impressive collection of North Amercian game that he and Linda both had harvested with their bows.

We finished up the afternoon with a round of this 3-D course, where Ben, again video taped me and offered pointers.

A great day with some great people!  I am really impressed with all of Hummingbirds bows, ecspecially the new 56" Piranha series recurve that can be tailored for the bowfishers, the tree stand hunter or the blind hunter.

Thanks to Ben and Linda for a great experience!

Sounds like a great time.  I have heard nothing but good about his bows.
