Bareshafting: Does this make sense??
« on: August 11, 2012, 07:57:00 AM »
My buddy and I have identical recurves, Static Tip 45lb drawing 28"s.  We both guessed 35/55 or Heritage 150's to be on the stiff side.

So, my buddy takes bare shaft Heritage 75's and 150's to the range. Starts shooting the bare shafts.  RH Shooter: at 20 yards everything is impacting way right.  He starts shooing the Heritage 150's, and backs down in point weight all the way to 150 grains @ 30"s, and is putting the bare shafts in a paper plate.

Niether of us would have guessed at these results, I'm going to try the same with my 35/55's..

Question: 1. My guess these would have been wayyyyy too stiff.

2. Is there a possibiity of a false weak result, even though reducing the point weight brought the arrows into the plate at 20 Yards?  After it was done fletched shafts were impacting with bare shafts...

have you tried fletched field points with fletched broadheads yet?

Anythings possible and nothing is set when it comes to tuning.  2 guys same bow, can shoot completely different arrow setups and get perfect arrow flight!   too many factors come into play other than just bow weight, draw length point weight and string type....there is no standard for the human element  ;) .
